Microchipping for Pets

The only permanent, reliable way to identify a lost pet.

Microchipping is the most effective way to help you reunite with your pet should they ever get lost. In a quick and painless procedure, a small chip the size of a grain of rice is inserted that contains all the information required to reunite you and your beloved companion. When scanned at a veterinary clinic or an animal shelter, your contact information becomes available, and your pet can be returned to you. If your pet is not microchipped already, call (416) 362-9696, and we can schedule an appointment.

Can puppies and kittens be microchipped?

Yes, puppies and kittens can also be microchipped. Depending on their health and stability, they can be microchipped when they are 5 to 8 weeks old.

How long does a microchip last?

The microchip does not have a power source like a battery. It uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology and can last your pet’s lifetime.

How is the microchip inserted into a pet?

The microchipping procedure is similar to a routine vaccination procedure. The chip is loaded in a syringe and is administered between your pet’s shoulder blades. It is a quick and straightforward procedure that can be done during a veterinary exam or spay and neuter surgery.
