    Veterinarian

I am the founder and owner of Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital. I came to Canada as a young child with my family from Chile. Since I was a small boy I had a fascination with animals. I was always trying to convince my parents to accept a new pet that I had taken in or somebody was trying to give away. My collection of pets ranged from a chicken to a budgie, to a turtle, and of course a cat and a dog. When I finally went to university I decided to combine my love of animals with my interest in medicine. Thus, I studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Guelph and I graduated in 1993. For the first few years of my career I worked in a mixed practice in central Ontario. My patients included cows, horses, pigs, yaks as well as dogs cats and exotic pets. After this I worked at several animal clinics in the Greater Toronto area. My special interests include emergency medicine, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.

On the personal side, I am married to Brigida Fortuna and we have four wonderful sons. We enjoy camping, bike riding, movies and downtown living.

On summer afternoons you can probably find me and my family sipping a coffee on College St. or visiting antique stores on Queen West.

    Dr. Oscar Albarracin

    Veterinarian

I earned my DVM in 1999 from the University of La Salle, Colombia. I then came to the United States and Canada where I completed a few post-doctoral clinical programs and multiple continuing education courses. I served as an associate staff doctor at both emergency and family veterinary clinics for several years before returning to Canada in 2010 to become an associate staff member here at Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital.

My interests include continuing education, diagnostic imaging and the application of good quality medicine. The use of non-invasive technologies for the early diagnosis of a particular disease process is of particular interest to me.

In my spare time, I enjoy anything that involves the great outdoors such as hiking, camping, jogging, cycling, swimming, as well as traveling, relaxing and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy the company of the many furry friends that pass through our clinic every day.

    Melissa Chatterjee

    Office Manager

My name is Melissa Chatterjee and I am the office manager here at Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital. I live in the neighborhood with my husband Arjun and our two beautiful children, Kira and Liam.

I was employed as a pharmacy technician for 16 years, working at various locations in Toronto including Shoppers Drug Mart and the Hospital for Sick Children.

I have always been an animal-lover and have had the privilege of being a companion to many a furry friend over the years. There was Trixie, a beautiful short-haired calico who would sleep with me every night. Next came the ferrets- Cajun Sky, Malibu (Bu), Sachmo (Baby), Bits (as in Bits & Bites) and finally, big panda-colored Steve. What fun! Still, to this day, I don't think I've ever met such a lively bunch. A very spunky orange tabby named Tyke would relish many quite moments in the rocking chair with my daughter, Kira. Tyke needed a playmate, so along came big loveable Mooch. He was a pure white cat with big green eyes and an even bigger heart.

Tyke and Mooch became patients of Dr. Barrientos in 2001, so I was a client here long before this too-good-to-be-true job opportunity presented itself. They were frequent visitors here for routine exams and vaccines as well as urinary problems and unfortunately, heart disease. Even though Tyke passed away in 2004 and Mooch in 2005, they are still very much with me as are all of my pets, both past and present. So, on a brighter note, just in case you were wondering, at last count I have 3 terrific cats- Thomas, Petra and Charlotte, one lovely goldfish- Nemo and one cute dwarf hamster- Theodora.

    Melanie

    Receptionist Team Leader

Hi my name is Melanie and I'm the full time receptionist here at Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital. I'm the person who will greet you and your furry friends every time you come to visit us.

My background is primarily Portuguese but I was born and raised here in Toronto. I speak Portuguese and also understand a bit of Spanish as well.

I have a wonderful and affectionate 12 year old cat by the name of Tommy aka Bubba.   He responds extremely well to the sound of the treat bag and to the opening of a fresh can of cat food! Tommy enjoys giving head nudges and loves to be brushed when having his breakfast and dinner. I am also mom to OJ who used to be our clinic cat but now has become a permament fixture in my home.  He at times can be a handful but in the end always puts a smile on our faces :)

It still amazes me that I have embraced friendships with cats. I was never a cat person until I met our beloved Oro. Oro was our clinic cat who unfortunately  has passed away. Oro meant the world to me and is truly missed. We went together like peanut butter and jelly!

My most true companion was my 16 year old Corgi Terrier, Sheba who passed away a few years ago. I truly understand what a true bond is between a person and their pet after spending 16 wonderful years with her.

I look forward to meeting you.

    Receptionist

Hi! My name is Joanne and I am the newest recruit for Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital as a receptionist! I graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and have had lots of experience in the customer service field.

I started off working in the restaurant industry at various positions and then moved on to the retail industry. Spent some time in retail and wanted to break into the pet industry. Finally had my chance at a pet boutique and learned a lot about different dog breeds, temperaments and all things pet-related! I also had the opportunity to work with the Toronto Cat Rescue and realized how rewarding it is to work alongside with pet parents to help provide the best care for their fur babies!

I have 3 fur babies myself. Their names are Casper, Slayer and Nina. They are all currently patients of Dr. Barrientos and have been for the last 10 years! My kitty kids are my pride and joy!

I look forward to meeting you and your beloved pets! Be sure that I will be the one asking for your pet's last name as I firmly believe that they are your kids too!

    Dejan Nenadovic

    Veterinary Technician

I was born in Serbia in 1965. I grew up in the country, learning how nature is important, always surrounded with a lot of pets (from frogs to pigs, and of course more commonly, cats and dogs).

I graduated from Vet University in Belgrade and was working there as veterinarian for several years. In 2002 I came to Canada, and five months after I became a technician at Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital. I had and still have the privilege to help a lot of animals, in the best way I know. I am also a proud owner of two adorable cats: Squirrel and MacMilena, both adopted from Annex Cat Rescue.

They like to join me in resting moments in front of my aquarium, and tolerate pretty well most of my plants which surround them. I like biking too, and find that as well as being good exercise it is the best way to travel through the city.

    Christie

    Veterinary Technician

Christie has always had a soft spot for animals and her experience in animal care goes back to when she was five years old and brought home an injured snake to care for, much to her mother's delight. Christie joined the Wellesley team shortly after graduating from Georgian College's Veterinary Technician Program. Christie also has a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and enjoys painting pet portraits. Her artist's touch can be seen in various areas of the clinic, from the paws prints on our driveway to the Fluffy Tails logo on our grooming suite door! Christie is usually somewhat behind the scenes at the clinic but she loves any chance to meet the pets that come to Wellesley, and their people. She looks forward to meeting you soon!

    Mario

    Groomer

    Hey!

My name is Mario and I'm the groomer at Front Street Animal Hospital.

I've been a professional groomer for close to 10 years. I am originally from Mexico which is where I had most of my training. In Mexico, I groomed show dogs and have a specific interest in terrier cuts. I also do hand stripping. I've learned through my career that a good balance between knowledge of dogs and cats aesthetics and their behavior are essential to make pets and owners happy. I believe that it's really important for future and current owners to understand their pet's behavior in order to offer them a better life.

Grooming is an essential necessity for most of our pet’s health and they have to be exposed to it as soon as possible. I encourage owners to start brushing their puppies and bringing them for a quick clean up at a young age.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to music; painting; and reading while sipping a coffee. I always had several pets back in Mexico and I hope to get one of my own soon.

    Hi, my name is Fred!

I was surrendered to Dundas Euclid Animal Hospital awhile ago and I must say that I have found a forever home with these caring staff members :)  Since I have been here I have had tons of belly rubs and relaxing brushing sessions! I can't complain one bit.

I am a bit shy so I don't wonder around the clinic too much.  I tend to spend most of my time lounging by Melissa's desk or on Melissa's desk.

I love my new home and I wouldn't have it any other way!!
